Matt & the guys provide a great setting by playing a mixture of modern acoustic classics by the pen of David Gray, Coldplay, and Damien Rice to the bouncier hits of Van Morrison & Stevie Wonder. They have a very lively set and bounce between rock, pop, soul, country, trad and more, with a huge experience of reading the crowd and playing the right thing. They can draw from more than 200 songs and are used to playing with a brass section when requested to do so.

Matt himself is an accomplished guitarist/singer & performer. Joining Matt on stage will be Gareth Hughes on bass. Gareth is the current bass player with Gavin Friday, but has also worked with Eddie Reader, 4 of Us Lionel Ritchie & Tom Jones. Drums/Vocals by Paul Hamilton, who is most known for his work with the Belfast band LEYA. The nucleus is made up by keyboard player John McCullough who doubles on organ and synths and makes this rockin’ band complete.

The Phat Cats are an excellent act for any occasion. They never fail to leave the crowds screaming for more while maintaining a fiercely high level of musicianship throughout.

The beauty about the Phat Cats is that they are adaptable to different situations, with a three piece band which also goes out with 4, 5, 6 or even a 7-member version including brass.

It is hard to think of a more versatile or better received combo.
